About Us
Water For People Bolivia
We are an international non-profit organization, whose objective is to develop accessible and quality services in drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. Sustainability is the essence of our mission, that is why we work together with communities, companies and local governments for a Bolivia, where everyone has drinking water, decent bathrooms and good hygiene practices.
Our History
In Bolivia, as in other countries in Latin America and the world, access to drinking water service, decent sanitation and hygiene is a desire.
In Bolivia, 31 out of every 100 people in rural areas do not have access to drinking water service and 55 out of every 100 people do not have access to a bathroom.
In 1997, Water For People began its first program in South America in Bolivia, focusing on the rural municipalities of Cochabamba, La Paz, Oruro, Potosí, Chuquisaca and Santa Cruz.
In 2006, Water For People began to implement its work model in Total Coverage•Forever, for which it establishes medium and long-term alliances with the municipalities of Cuchumuela in Cochabamba and San Pedro in Santa Cruz.
Starting in 2011, and with the certainty that it is possible to provide safe water service to all communities, all families, all health centers and educational establishments; Water For People expands its work in the municipalities of Arani, Arbieto, San Benito, Pocona, Tiraque and Villa Rivero in the department of Cochabamba.
Our Achievements
2012
In 2012, the Autonomous Municipal Government of Cuchumuela reached the goals of Total Coverage•Forever.
2014
In 2014, the Autonomous Municipal Government of San Pedro reached the goals of Total Coverage•Forever.
2018
In 2018, contribution to the national regulatory framework in the design of the Human Right to Water and Sanitation Policy (DHAS); the National Rural Water and Sanitation Strategy (ENRAS) and the National Community Development Regulation.

In 2018, recognition by UN Bolivia for the contribution and actions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
